See the grand and solemn mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh (viewed from outside; closed Mon and Fri and from Oct-Nov), the ‘icon of Hanoi’ – The One Pillar Pagoda, the beautiful Temple of Literature, West Lake’s Tran Quoc temple and Quan Thanh pagoda as well as the fascinating Ethnology Museum, the bustling Old Quarter and at the end of the day – a water puppet performance. DAY 3: Enjoy the magnificent scenery as the boat sails

This morning, drive through the fertile farmlands of the Red River Delta to Halong City. Board the Emeraude, a classic replica of a colonial steamship, for the overnight cruise on Halong Bay. DAY 4: Visit Thanh Chuong Palace

As your boat cruises back to Halong City through the spectacular karsts and limestone rock formations, have a leisurely morning before enjoying brunch on-board. Your driver will meet you upon disembarkation for the transfer to Noi Bai airport and your flight to Danang. En-route visit Thanh Chuong Palace, the home and studio of one of Vietnam’s most celebrated artists. Take lunch before flying to Danang and transferring to Hoi An. Overnight in Hoian

After breakfast, explore Hoi An by walking through the quaint streets of this heritage town, which remains much the same as it was in its heyday 200 years ago. DAY 6: A half-day cooking class at Tra Que, a charming village in Hoi An

Following breakfast, depart for a half-day cooking class at Tra Que, a charming village in Hoi An’s rustic outskirts which supplies vegetables to kitchens all over the country. Spend the morning working with the villagers as they show you the ways to harvest and prepare fresh vegetables for meals. Cook a lunch of Vietnamese dishes with your hosts before enjoying the fruits of your labour. Return to Hoi An town for a leisurely afternoon. Overnight in Hoian

Today, leave the bustle of the city behind for a day of exploring scenic rice fields, waterways and colorful markets of the Mekong Delta. Cruise along the Mekong tributaries to Cai Be floating market and visit cottage industries that make ‘pop’ rice, rice paper and coconut candies. Your last few days in Vietnam will be spent in the peaceful town of Mui Ne, which is a four hour drive from Ho Chi Minh City. A popular place for watersports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing, Mui Ne is home to giant sand dunes perfect for jeep safaris. The area is also justifiably known for its cheap and fresh seafood.
